Can I get a rAMEN??

I do not concern myself with gods and spirits either good or evil nor do I serve any.

  1. Completely unrelated...

Why do I fear posting this on Ray's latest (at least somewhat understandable but yet completely belligerent) post:

"How well does that $5000 a year your multi-million-dollar sham of a ministry deems worthy to donate serve those poor, starving African kids? At least the LHC is going to contribute something of value to somebody (in fact, probably a great deal of people).

Then again, considering you believe evolution is a complete fabrication, I guess you wouldn't want to contribute to innoculating diseases with vaccinations based on its premises. That's swell!"

  2. Dr Ken Miller delves deeply into the rising anti-science movement epitomized by Comfort's "sick" post.

I recommend that you all read his new book, "Only a Theory".

Not quite as good as "Finding Darwin's God", but still worth reading.

Now, now. I think it was almost 6K that Living Waters gave away.

  4. I wouldn't be surprised if Ray counts giving out his Million Dollar Tracts as charitable donations in his deluded mind.

  5. I'm sure he does. I just wish he'd start declaring it to the IRS. Then him and Hovind could be "cellmates".

  6. I wonder how much Ray makes in "love donations"
"Love donations" is cash. Ray's probably rolling in cash. And he probably doesn't pay for anything. He doesn't pay for hotel rooms or plane tickets when he speaks. And he asks for "love donations"
Ray's blog has been especially brain dead today. He seems to starting a new threads left, right and center. 3 already today.

AFAIK they are reffered to as "love offerings".

Not all are given in cash. A high percentage are checks, but there certainly is cash at the end of the night.

Ray only commits to speaking to groups of at least 1,000.

I would estimate that the average take is $5,000-$20,000 per event, depending on the venue. Not shabby at all.

You are right that the sponsoring venue pays for his travel expenses & lodging. I would imagine that they retrieve a percentage of the "love".

  8. Hi there. I love the Original Lao Tzu quote: I'm a philosphical Taoist, so this speaks to me from both positions.

    I've always loved this one:

“The reason why the universe is eternal is that it does not live for itself; it gives life to others as it transforms”
    - Lao Tzu

  9. I've always thought it was amazing that someone who lived so long before Jesus (6th century BC) could get so much stuff absolutely right. Some people keep going on about how the bible is "still relevant today": they should try reading the Tao Te Ching sometime.
