Ray Comfort's God Can Suck It

In his latest debacle of a post, Ray says the following:

"To those of you who love the Lord--I would ask for your continued prayers for the future (something exciting is coming up). Those of you who don't love Him--please don't waste your time praying. God doesn't hear the prayers of those with a proud heart or those with any willful sin in their lives. He resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. So Mr. Atheist, if you have ever prayed and concluded that God didn't hear your prayers, you are right in that He didn't, but wrong in your conclusion that He doesn't exist. You were the one with the problem, not God."

Now, this brings to mind the question of why an atheist would pray in the first place. Of course, Ray doesn't think an atheist would be praying, it's just more of the same old baiting and trying to get attention through pissing off people that don't believe in his invisible friend. Way to win souls, Ray. But wait, it gets better.

Ever wondered how, if you wanted to become a Christian, you could do that? Aren't they always telling us we have to pray and ask their deity to save us? Well, forget it, it no longer works that way. God doesn't hear the prayers of the unsaved anymore. He's closed up shop and now only hears the prayers of those that believe in him in the first place. So if you were thinking of testing the waters to see if God would listen to your prayers, he doesn't. Thanks for confirming that your God is a prick who only hears what he wants to hear, Ray. He sounds a lot like you.

Also, if you are a Christian, but you've willfully sinned, according to Ray you can't ever be forgiven because his God won't listen:
"God doesn't hear the prayers of those with a proud heart or those with any willful sin in their lives."

Basically, Ray's whole post can be summed up like this: Nanny Nanny poo-poo, my God doesn't hear you !!!

And never forget folks, if Ray's God doesn't hear your prayers it's all your fault anyway.

  1. I thought "all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God"? So uhm how does anyone get forgiveness?

Ray really is pathetic, this is part of the reason I haven't posted their recently. Plus I have been thinking about the whole backfire effect and if there was anyway to really mitigate it.

  2. Rocky,

There is no forgiveness from Ray's God. Ray's God only loves Ray and people that worship Ray.

  3. So God is omnipresent, but if an atheist prays to him, God goes like this

    *fingers in ears*
    "Lalalalala I can't hear you!"

  4. God also knows every hair on my head and hears my every thought. I don't get it. If I didn't know better I'd say Ray is just making shit up.

You do know better. Ray is making this shit up!

ps - there is no Santa Claus and there is no Easter Bunny. Sorry!

  6. If you want to discuss this, do so publicly on the Raytractors blog. I will not engage in private email dialogue with you. All email from you will not hit my spam filter.

So why can't nm carry on a private email discussion? Too much of a coward? Unable to hold her own and needs help from all her friends here to dogpile and overwhelm critics? If I had sent nm a message like that, that's the response I would get. You know it. I know it. Just admit it.

  7. The part of this post of Ray's I'd like him to explain is "willful sin". I thought all sin was willful. Are there sins that you can't help committing? Would you be punished eternally for those?

  8. New Policy on Tony's blog.
    Lawman Chronicles

Tony replied to my query, and it says it for itself. No more comments, just a one way narrative from him. Something major happened at Living Waters. Sure sounds like Ray is ticked off.

"The purpose of this blog is to inform and encourage Christians, and to present the Law and the Gospel to the unsaved.

The purpose of this blog is not to solicit praise from proponents or the rancor of opponents. This blog is not a forum for public debate. There are plenty of other online locations where one can debate and argue to their hearts content. This is not the place.

The Lawman Chronicles is a vehicle for expressing my personal views about spiritual, theological, and philosophical subjects of interest and importance to me and hopefully to you, the reader.

For that reason, I have removed the "comments" feature from this blog. However, I still welcome comments and conversation regarding the content of this blog. This is why I've created an e-mail account just for that purpose.

If you have a comment or question about a post on The Lawman Chronicles, you can e-mail me at:

    thelawman104@gmail.com

I will do my best to answer your e-mail in a timely manner, when a response is warranted.

Note: Any e-mail containing any blasphemous or otherwise offensive material will be deleted and no response will be given.

From time to time, I may feature a question or comment I've received in a blog post.

I hope you will continue to enjoy reading The Lawman Chronicles, and I look forward to hearing from you."

  9. @ Maragon,

I agree. It pushed him over the edge, and now he is blaming both atheists and Christians on the blog. I received emails of people cancelling their trip to Transformed seminar. I'm thinking about it as well.

He is lashing out at everyone.

  11. Good morning, Terry.

Sounds like that 'lawman' guy isn't interested in having any open, honest discussions with anyone.

Here's what these Living Waters guys don't seem to understand. Very very few people like to be preached at without a chance to respond - either positively or negatively.
Atheists certainly aren't going to go out of their way to read something that they know is riddled with factual and logical errors - especially when they can't even bring up their side of the posistion.

I think that cutting contact and interaction with both theists and atheists alike will cost Living Waters in the long run. They won't just lose atheists, they may lose supporters to another ministry who is more eager to dialogue with them.

You sure do talk about dick a lot. What's up with that?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Terry, I may have missed it but have you even acknowledged your role in the Raytractors production of A Psychotic Breakdown in One Act?

Last I saw you were denying it was you. Now your back all chatty and friendly. You said some really nasty things that you need to apologize for. The first step is admitting you have a problem. Everyone's aware of it but you, terry.

  14. Does this lawman guy seriously expect the 'unsaved' to read a blog full of nonsense they have no interest in, without having the option of questioning or debating it? I certainly wouldn't waste my time with Ray's or any other theist blog if that option wasn't available.

It's not can't, it's won't. There's no point. I have nothing to discuss with you in private. If you have something you want to ask or say, do so here, in public.

I've never asked anyone to overwhelm a critic of mine, so your assumption is unsubstantiated.

  16. I was pretty excited yesterday when I caught up on all the weekend's shenanigans. I couldn't believe that it only took 66 days and a photoshopped dick to bring Ray to his knees. Then today I see it was all a ruse, a pathetic attempt to stroke his own...ego. Very, very sad.

Aren't we all supposedly "willful sinners"? That would explain why no prayers get answered then right?

BTW, Kirk has a new movie coming out soon. I saw him on ET. It's call "Firestorm or "Firefaith" or something "fire". He plays a fireman with a troubled marriage. He then asks god to help him be the best darn fireman and husband ever!

OK, I made that last part up, about god. But I bet you dollars to donuts that's what happens.

  17. Hey Raytractors' Regulars - I have a few questions.

Let's say he does actually shut down his blog. What does that do to us? Do we exist merely because Ray's blog exists?

    ---

Secondly, I'm curious to know how Ray's little fun house came to be known as "Atheist Central". Was it named something else previously? Did he change the name because he was getting a lot of criticism, or did he create it with the sole purpose of heckling people?

It seems that he's getting a lot of support over there, from people who claim they're learning stuff. It makes me wonder who Ray is actually talking to - if it's other Christians, then there's no need for me to be there.

Just curious about the history of our happy little groups...

  18. Fireproof (2008)
Lt. Caleb Holt lives by the old firefighter's adage: Never leave your partner behind. Inside burning buildings, it's his natural instinct. In the cooling embers of his marriage, it's another story.

After a decade of marriage, Caleb and Catherine Holt have drifted so far apart that they are ready to move on without each other. Yet as they prepare to enter divorce proceedings, Caleb's dad asks his son to try an experiment: The Love Dare.

While hoping The Love Dare has nothing to do with his parents' newfound faith, Caleb commits to the challenge. But can he attempt to love his wife while avoiding God's love for him? Will he be able to demonstrate love over and over again to a person that's no longer receptive to his love? Or is this just another marriage destined to go up in smoke?

  19. Whateverman sez:

Let's say he does actually shut down his blog. What does that do to us? Do we exist merely because Ray's blog exists?

I don't think so. While we may have started off as an answer to the abusive lies of Ray Comfort, I think we have an identity that transcends that. Personally, I'll stick around even if Ray recants and retracts every lie he's told. It's not like there's a shortage of other Fundie god-botherers to refute...

Secondly, I'm curious to know how Ray's little fun house came to be known as "Atheist Central". Was it named something else previously?>

Yes, it was previously known as "Comfort Food".

Did he change the name because he was getting a lot of criticism, or did he create it with the sole purpose of heckling people?

I'm pretty sure it was the latter, as sane people showing up to debunk his ridiculous talking points make up the majority of his respondents.

  20. Whateverman,

Technically, Atheist Central's full name is Atheist Central, the Soap Box: Comfort Food - Ray Comfot's Blog. He changed its name three times in as many months, each one progressively angsty (the Soap Box was the first, done because atheists like to state their opinion).

As for the Raytractors, we've had small movements to go elsewhere, but I think that we stick with Ray as long as he's around. If he shuts down the blog, I can't see this group vanihing, nor losing the name.

At least, I hope we don't vanish or ditch the name.

  21. Thanks for the info, TMM. I was having trouble with the notion that "Ray thinks, therefore I am"

  22. Well, I figure I'd make a post about how self-righteous those religious people can get.

    Case in point

If all atheists are as "depraved" as you assert, then why have I not engaged in such behaviour?

I didn't say all atheists would. However, it is far more likely for atheists to engage in that behavior. I've seen this fact proven time and time again. Some of the most vile non-violent attacks I've seen against Christians have come from atheists.
Yeah, and some of the most non-violent attacks I've seen against atheists have come from professing "Christians".

Just look up richarddawkins dot net slash theUgly, and you'll get all sorts of fun examples of the kind of things you're complaining about...only they're on your side.

You do remember that even the (in your minds) the pro-atheist site TalkOrigin Archive has been the target of a porn attack that caused it to be de-listed from google?

Now, who do you think did that?

    Back to Jinx's post:
As I did not witness any of the actions that are the current subject of condemnation, I had no opportunity to express any disapproval.

So I guess you cannot condemn slavery, then, since you've never witnessed it. Nice.
    What's the bible's excuse then?

Jinx, while you're all acting morally superior to us atheists, why don't you tell us why you got kicked off from Theology Web?

Sure, it's not as bad as what you're whinging about here, but the mods over there thought you were going over the line, and I daresay the ones here would too.

How's about I tell the people here what your last phrase to the mods in your sig was?

  24. Oooooh, now this is funny...

Comfort says: Dimensio...Please explain why your comments are almost always the same. Are you a machine? If you want evidence for a Creator, look at creation, and if you want everlasting life, repent and trust the Savior. End of argument. I think I can predict your reply:

    !!!!!!!

    Top banana Comfort!!

  25. What you guys are really missing here is that Ray doesn't want you to pray, because you may start believing. And if people start believing, then he won't be the only guy competing for the alter boys attention. At least that's what he believes. His "hardened Christian values" are no doubt better then mine. /sarcasm
