to All Fired Up:

Regarding your comments to Tripmaster Monkey on his use of Mark 10:17-25;

You're so full of shit you squeak. You're so good at spin, you should work for Fox News. I love the way you have to twist and spin what your saviour actually said and meant. What a joke. You say he didn't mean it literally because you don't want to do it. The only way it makes sense for Jesus to say sell all you have, and not to worry about anything, is if he believed he'd be coming back soon to end everything. Well, we're still waiting, nearly two thousand years later. Tell me; how many millenia in a soon?

Watch the atheistic media try to sweep it under the proverbial carpet.

And they are already doing it.

The media is so racist against Christians.

Those who are bigoted have a lot to fear. They mock Christians for worshiping God, but embrace a religion of "self".

I guess they do have a lot to fear.

I find it quite humorous that atheists talk so much about God, yet quite laughable since they don't even believe God exists, they just can't shut up talking about God in some form or fashion.

Ray, that reminds me of the time you open air'd on the street and a heckler got up after you missed a day of preaching took your place and mocked God so much that a bystander who had listened to you, came to salvation in Christ because of the blatant mocking of Christ.

Thanks Raytractor atheists! By trying to downplay the movie, you are putting it into the spotlight even more.

The more vocal you are against God, the more God gets the glory - and no matter what you do or say - God still gets the glory. Think about it.

Is it just me, or does AFU try to sound mean? Oh. What a whiner. You, I wonder why I can't stop talking about God...

Can it be because I cannot go through one day without it being brought up somewhere in some fashion?
I would guess so. Funny, All Tired Up can't seem to shut up about atheists and the 'secular stranglehold', whatever that is.

I liked the end of that comment, it translates into...

"I don't care what you say, we WIN PERIOD. I don't care, I don't care, I don't care!!! LA LA LA, Can't hear you! no matter what, we win!"

Thanks All tired Up, by opening your mouth you're showing how incredibly radical you are about being Ray's brown-nosed buddy.

The more vocal you are about God- the less people take you seriously. And no matter what you do or say, you sound like some fool who's 'racist against atheists' (Who the hell uses Racists when talking about religion or non religion?).

    Think about it.

I don't mean to say when people talk about God they sound foolish...

  4. It's about time Allfriedup gets his own dedicated Post.

This slime bucket has a huge emotional investment in his irrational belief system and he slips and slimes his way along deluding himself (and probably his family and friends as well) while ignoring any rational argument that is made.

    Friends, this is ignorance personified.
The stench that comes out of this kind of thinking is loathsome and sickening to the core.

These kind of people (Vera another example) use this word salad technique in which it is obvious that it is an aquired skill that they soon think cannot be detected.
Of course they are fooling nobody but themselves.

They do find themselves in dire straights though and that is why they become so defensive and so desparate.

I often think of what it would be like to have a wife, who you treat in a "biblical" manner, kids who have been raised for years on this horseshit and you figure out that this superstition you have been foisting on them all these years is probably not what you had hoped it would be.

Guess what? He is trapped like a rat. Locked in. Doomed. Due to this emotional investment he must live the lie because he knows that he has brainwashed his wife and kids so well that if he trys to get them on the right track they will think he is crazy. That is why religions are so pervasive. Once you get in, it is hard to get out.

Allried up is trapped in his belief system and he will go to his grave living with the dreadful decisions he has made, with only the fractured logic of Pascals Wager to sustain him.

I have felt very sorry for this guy for quite some time. He doesn't have a logical bone in his body and he is proud of it.

I actually pity him because he is doomed by his own doing. Doomed to believe in nothing different from fairies, astrology, fortune telling, UFOs, big foot, or psychics. Nothing left but to delude himself further with his word salads, and trust me; he knows exactly what he is doing.

He knows precisely what he is doing and he is doomed to his deciet.

  5. That shit pissed me off. I just posted this at Ray's, now to see if it goes through.

As usual, you missed the whole point of that lesson.

The lesson of the rich young ruler, was that he came to Jesus as an arrogant man. His being wealthy made him proud.

He lied when he said he obeyed all the commandments.

    Jesus saw right through it.

Then Jesus added yet another command. In other words there is NO WAY to obey the commandments - they were given to show us all that it is impossible to keep them.

I would agree with you if that was the only time Jesus said that, but according to your Bible, he said the same thing to others.

Matthew 6:19-21 - Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Luke 12:32-34 - "Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Luke 6:30 Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back.

So the question still stands Have you given up everything you own, or do you not have enough faith to do that?

Let me guess, he wasn't being specific these were metaphors also.

Go ahead be judgmental with me also, that is about the only thing you can do.

  6. Allfried up is soooo busted on this one.

  7. Yep, another example of 'Oh, that was a metaphor because you don't really want me to give up my stuff do you, Jeebus?'

If he had any logic about him, I'd love to see how he worms his way out of this one, but he doesn't so he'll just ignore it or keep saying over and over how he's right and we're wrong, as if it made it so.

  8. Rufus,

A single generation can be a few millenniums right?

So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near, at the very gates. Truly I tell you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place. (Matthew 24:33-34)

  9. NM,

Did you see Allfiredup's post. BTW HI Allfiredup, care to post and join in actual discussion not a delayed remark thing? Also links are allowed here so if you have proof for your claims you can link them here.

(speaking as Allfiredup)The answer is that Paul said something that says different from Jeebus so because I like what Paul said I am going with it instead. But if I actually read what I posted and the questions asked. I would see no one is complaining about making money, Jeebus said nothing about that, it was what you do with it after making it. Paul just addressed making money, Jeebus addressed what you do with your money. Then I went on yet another judgmental rampage where I made assumptions about people who post and said that they don't give to charity and that I and by default other xtians are better because we do.

  10. All F'ed Up's rebuttal to us is here.

All Fe'd Up, I give literally thousands to the poor every year, even though at this time I really don't have it to give. Unless you know an atheist personally, making unsubstantiated claims about who gives what to charity only makes you look more of an asshole than you already do. And that's quite a task. Glad to see you're up to it, though.

  11. *sigh*

I responded to him at Ray's but I will not respond again as I am just being dragged down to his level. I actually had that response thought out before his remark. I had to modify it a bit but it was basically the same. Notice he did exactly as I said he would.

  12. Thanks NM!
I read the link and he is very open about the fadct that he is reading this post.

Then, he just plows ahead with his sophist argument as the condiment to his word salad.

  13. I reread Allfired's rubuttal and he says nothing to refute the original questions. It makes me wonder just what he was trying to accomplish with the rebuttal.

  14. Friends, this is ignorance personified.

I can get behind this 100%

  15. All F'ed Up's rebuttal to us is here

So - if the Bible is supposed to be the literal word of God, and there are 2 sections of scripture which contradict each other...

How exactly does this reveal God to be perfect?

Y'all are right, of course - AllEffedUp rationalizes his way out of the inconsistency, and then claims his faith proves his interpretation to be correct. It's fundamentally dishonest & proud - he sins and gladly displays it for everyone to see.

I personally don't care one way or another as to what you do based on scripture (as long as it doesn't affect me). Those who wear their ignorance as a badge of honor, however, tend to get under my skin...

  16. Christians base their whole lives on one paragraph from Matthew and devote themselves to evangelizing, yet ignore all the other admonishments to give all away, take care of the poor, pray in private, etc. There are Christians out there who take what Jesus said literally and live among the poor but we never see or hear from them. I suspect those kind are few and far between and they certainly don't post at Atheist Central.

Ray, Allfiredup, and all the rest are missing the point. It's not about who can be the most righteous and sing the loudest praises, it's about who humbled himself the most and became as the least in our society. When was the last time you heard of the religious right campaigning for the rights of the poor? Ever? Giving out food or money is nice but it is not challenging authority to fundamentally change the power structure. Christians confuse charity for the poor with standing up for the poor. There is a difference. And I don't want to hear that is was Christians that ended slavery and Christians that lead the civil rights movement because it was Christians who owned slaves and Christians who spit on little black children going to school.

I don't know if Allfiredup can comprehend how self centered his religious beliefs are- it's all about my petty sins, my salvation, what god thinks of me, where I'm going when I die... me..me...me. It's not an appealing philosophy.

  17. All Fired Up quoted a lot from Paul. Maybe he's more of a Paulian than a Christian in this case.

Hey Patti. The donations are to start a forum, where everyone will be welcome, like now. When we begin selling stuff that me mark up over 100 percent, when we're taking in millions of dollars, when anyone connected to the project is making six figures, then maybe we can worry about financial statements, oversight boards, things like that.

As for the Bible verses referred to, you guys keep cherry picking and spinning everything. It's always amusing. Take care.

  18. NM:

You were a bit more succinct with Patti than I was.

  19. NM:

Patti was always one of my favorites from over there. I still kinda like her, even though she doesn't like me anymore. She did agree to read some books that we recommended. I don't think many over there would do that.

  20. Wow...that's hilarious. I got so tired of waiting for the crack team of moderators to post my comment that I gave up, and I missed that whole wonderful shitstorm.

Of course, I didn't need to actually read AllFiredUp's reply to know what it was going to say...I'm not reading "in context".

I'm not going to reply in depth, for three reasons:

    1) I'm way too late getting to this party.

    2) All the points I could raise have already been raised by my fellow heathens.

    3) "AllFiredUp" simply isn't worth the bother.

For the above reasons, I'll confine my reply to directing all interested parties to this insightful comic strip by our good friends over at Atheist Eve. ^_^
