A New Blog In Town

Well, it took me a few weeks, but I have finally figured out how to make a post on this blog.

Sorry for the delay, but I hope that the quality of my posts will be worth the wait.

I am also here to shamelessly plug my new blog -

The Feeble Lance of Reason.

http://feeblelance.blogspot.com/

The first post is a long one, but it is one that all present and future Raytractors should be intimately familiar with. It is an essay prophetically written by Isaac Asimov in 1984 entitled "The Threat of Creationism".

The prospect of a Young Earth Creationist like Sarah Palin becoming Vice President of the United States of America, only a heartbeat away from actually being President should give all rational people nightmares.

In an interview, Palin admited that she felt that the Earth is less than 7,000 years old and substantiates her reasoning because she saw pictures of human footprints with dinosaur footprints. She also firmly believes that Jesus will return in her lifetime.

I wonder if she has seen "Hell's Best Kept Secret"?

  1. I agree, Sarah Palin scares me.

But you lot have had a YEC president for the last 8 years. It would be the culmative effect of another 4 years worth that would send America down the toilet, not anyone in particular.

All I can say is thank Zeus I live in Australia.

PS: I think Obama's pretty cool, but I'm not going to get interested in American politics until I see a black atheist gay woman running for president. In which case, I'll move there to vote for her.

  2. Seriously though, I wonder how many people have died that have believed that Jeebus would return in their life time...

  5. Revelation 22:6 And he said to me, "These words are faithful and true"; and the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, sent His angel to show to His bond-servants the things which must soon take place.

Revelation 22:7 And behold, I am coming quickly

And with that assurance - still unsatisfied nearly two thousand years later- the New Testament ends.

  8. Can anyone provide a confirmable citation about Palin on creationism? I hope some interviewer pins her down on the topic.

  9. so far (in Alaska), she has kept her hands off of education matters in respect to evolution/creation. McCain accepts evolution, so she'll not be saying much about it. She has stated her opinion that the 'debate' between th two 'theories' should be taught, but she did not try to legislate anything in that direction.

  10. geoff-

    from salon news

Another valley activist, Philip Munger, says that Palin also helped push the evangelical drive to take over the Mat-Su Borough school board. "She wanted to get people who believed in creationism on the board," said Munger, a music composer and teacher. "I bumped into her once after my band played at a graduation ceremony at the Assembly of God. I said, 'Sarah, how can you believe in creationism -- your father's a science teacher.' And she said, 'We don't have to agree on everything.'

"I pushed her on the earth's creation, whether it was really less than 7,000 years old and whether dinosaurs and humans walked the earth at the same time. And she said yes, she'd seen images somewhere of dinosaur fossils with human footprints in them."

Munger also asked Palin if she truly believed in the End of Days, the doomsday scenario when the Messiah will return. "She looked in my eyes and said, 'Yes, I think I will see Jesus come back to earth in my lifetime.'"
