Dear Terry...

Dear Terry,

You wrote to me...

I only wish Hell on satan and his disciples. If you are a disciple, then I hope you do go to Hell. Because, you have sold your soul to the devil. Its that simple!

...

Laugh as you want witch, you will burn!

...

You will answer for your crimes on Judgement Day! Hope you like the smell of sulfur and brimstone.

...

You lied to Myself and Tony! Switch that from 'witch' to a spelling with "B".

Don't waste our time with bogus
decisions for Christ. Ok?

...

May God forgive you for your evil deeds. Tony is a busy man with his ministry. I doubt seriously that you are legally blind.

Just a typical atheist liar.

...

Playing video games? Isn't that a little bit impossible for a legally blind person.

I don't believe anything you say!

...

Then you recently said this:

The recent Kaitlyn conversion, then 'reversal' did not help matters. Just a childish game on Kaitlyn's part. She wasted several Christian's time & efforts with a bunch of lies!

We felt sorry for her, and reached out a helping hand. She bit us like a psycho dog.

I want you to know that I'm sorry if I came across as a psycho bitch.

I also forgive you for calling me a bitch, a liar, a witch, and other names. And I also forgive you for acting so rudely toward me when I reached out to you to get saved.

  2. OK, so NM slips in a picture of Ray with a cock in his face and he thinks it's a big deal, yet we have to set through month after month of this kind of nonsense without declaring this person insane?

gIVE ME A FUCKING BREAK, rAY.

I would rather see that cock in my face every day rather than let Terry Burton continue speaking for me. U know what I mean? I guess this is a case where it is obvious that we reap what we sow? hehehehe

No good can come of the hate that you so gladly spread.

  3. Hey Kaitlyn, what ended up happening with the interest in conversion? I was curious, because you seemed to be going in with pure sincerity but then came back more ardently sarcastic and atheistic. What convinced you to try, and what convinced you to stop?

You are truly one of the more interesting kids here amongst the Raytractors. Terry has no idea what he's talking about and how big of a bridge he burned. Your forgiveness is pretty admirable considering it is entirely unnecessary in this context.

  4. Please pardon me for posting this lengthy thing again. I just see that Terry has not yet posted on this topic and I am really hoping to get him to read this.

    -----------------------------

    Terry,

I feel compelled to tell you some things. I hope you will read this thoughtfully.

Every human being has, in a sense, an angel on one shoulder and a devil on the other. We all have something in us that wants to do "good" and something else that wants to do "evil." All of us live in a balance between those two, trying most of the time to do "good." However, what you are experiencing is far beyond what could be classified as natural.

You may have a condition known as Dissociative Identity Disorder. You can read more about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dissociative_identity_disorder

    ----------------------------------
    SYMPTOMS:

Individuals with DID demonstrate a variety of symptoms with wide fluctuations across time; functioning can vary from severe impairment in daily functioning to normal or high abilities. Symptoms can include:[2]

    * multiple mannerisms, attitudes and beliefs that are dissimilar to each other
    * headaches and other body pains
    * distortion or loss of subjective time
    * depersonalization
    * amnesia
    * depression

Patients may experience an extremely broad array of other symptoms that resemble epilepsy, schizophrenia, anxiety, Mood disorders, posttraumatic stress, personality, and eating disorders.[2]

    ----------------------------------
    POTENTIAL CAUSES

The causes of dissociative identity disorder have not been identified, but are theoretically linked with the interaction of overwhelming stress, traumatic antecedents,[1] insufficient childhood nurturing, and an innate ability to dissociate memories or experiences from consciousness. Prolonged childhood abuse is frequently a factor, with a very high percentage of patients reporting documented abuse often confirmed by objective evidence.

    ----------------------------------

Please seriously consider these things. Do any of these symptoms or potential causes ring a bell.

This doesn't have anything to do with whether or not you are a Christian. You may be thinking to yourself, "I just fell, or I just sinned, when I did this or that... I will do better this time... I will rid myself of all that and I will be a real Christian now!"

That is a fine sentiment, however this disorder cannot be overcome with willpower statements such as these. You do not need to feel a sense of failure, or "non-Christian-ness" about seeking some professional help. You can even seek professional help from a Christian psychotherapist... there are plenty of them out there.

Please believe that I'm not making jokes at your expense here. And I'm not trying to insult you.

Secondarily, it is very easy to prove that you (not a hacker, or someone named "Steve Smith," nor your "twin brother Jerry") are the one who posted the comments under "USA."

A "hacker" would, first of all, have no reason to hijack one of your aliases and then use that to come here... of all places. Secondly, a hacker's purpose in imitating you would be to fool people into thinking he was you... not to "admit" he was a hacker. Thirdly, you, posing as a hacker, admitted to being "man with a badge" which is one of your aliases that you've already admitted to. How would a "hacker" even have any idea who "man with a badge" was?

I am no going through all this in an attempt to make you feel trapped or angry... but only to get you to see that all of these aliases you're going by are part of your own attempt to express these incredibly disparate sides of your own mind.

It probably felt very good to say lots of the things you said as USA... that part of you, that "devil" on your shoulder, probably really relished that--but only for a moment. Then the other side came in with panic trying to figure out a way to clean up this mess... and the idea of a "hacker" taking over your account just popped out.

Please genuinely look over the list of symptoms above again with an open mind. Re-read the list of possible causes. Try to be as honest with yourself as possible within your own mind... could this be you?

I think there's a very good chance that you could live a much more peaceful life if you had some help in this area.

  5. @Theshaggy,

I'm just going through a hard time right now, that's all. I was going to give Christianity a shot.

I know I was teasing Terry about witchcraft, but I was serious about looking for a church and joining a Christian community.

But after doing some soul searching and talking to people including Terry, I realized I was just looking for help, community, purpose, spirituality, etc..., and I wasn't making a potentially large life-change in a reasoned state.

So, I guess I should be thankful to Terry.

  6. I've also decided to stop posting on Ray's blog for a while until I clear out my head.

  7. Though I am not an atheist, Kaitlyn, if I were, I would be proud to be one because of what you have done today.

  8. And... one other thing,

    you said...

"And I also forgive you for acting so rudely toward me when I reached out to you to get saved."

Don't bother reaching out to Christians to get saved, reach out to Christ.

  9. Hey Kaitlyn,

I agree that joining a particular religion is a life changing decision and one that only you can make. If you want my opinion (I know you didn't ask for it but I'm giving it to you anyway because I'm pushy like that) I would use your head and think things through rationally. From the comments I've read of yours you are a very logical person so that really shouldn't be hard for you to do. In my experience, if you approach religion from a strictly emotional perspective and you want to feel the presence of (or a sign from) jesus, you will. Likewise if you are only using your emotions to try and feel the presence of buddha or a unicorn that will work as well. I don't know if you have ever been a christian before, but I have a whole lifetime of experience with the religion, as others here have as well. If you have any questions you want answered from an exchristian's point of view, please don't hesitate to ask. As well, if you have questions for christians I'm sure there are many that would gladly answer them for you.

Good luck and I hope that wasn't too long of a comment :-)

  10. Too long of a comment? Ha! And here I was thinking how well you said that in so few words. :P

  12. To "why are you wearing that mask", or whatever your exact name is (I'm posting this on my phone and scrolling up is a pain in the ass), I think its great that you're trying to help Terry, and you realize he may have a mental disorder. I'm betting he does, but I highly doubt its dissociative identity disorder. While I am in no way a professional, nor have I even been to school for psychology, its very unlikely he suffers from DID (also known as multiple personality disorder).
For one, he seems fully aware that he's posting under each of his "sock puppets". People with DID are rarely aware that there are other personalities. That, and the fact that DID is so rare, there are very, very few cases reported.
The only reason I know anything about it, is because my mom is convinced my dad had DID, and it was one of his other personalities that committed suicide. I can't say for sure whether he (my dad) suffered from that or not, but, I doubt it.
Looking at the symptoms, from a non professional point of view, I don't see it here in Terry. Something is definitely going on with him. He needs to seek help, but DID is doubtful.
You may be a therapist, and would be able to recognize the symptoms better than I ever could (your profile doesn't give any info), but either way, its impossible to diagnose someone via the internet.
I am sure you're only trying to help, but trying to convince him he suffers from such an extreme disorder probably won't help.

  13. Kaitlyn,
I was always sure, you were serious about your search. It's a loss for Christianity that you didn't find someone more sensible and reasonable to speak about Christianity, but being selfish, I'm glad that you stay with us.

  14. Kaitlyn,

I had wondered if you were serious, though you seemed the sort who wouldn't make those claims rashly.

I don't blame you for searching for purpose and such. Been doing much of the same, as my life has been stressful and not-at-all fun lately. I've actually been reading up on Buddhism lately, and it seems pretty cool from a non-theist perspective (if you ignore the mystical schools, the Buddha's stuff is pretty humanist and non-magical). Might be worth looking into for some personal philosophy and help dealing with the rough patches.

    Good luck sorting things out.

  15. I had wondered if you were serious

I had originally taken it for a combination of curiosity and sarcasm - not an actual quest for information. I said this before and I'll say it again: I'm sorry that I misunderstood.

I would say this: Ray and his groupies are not at all indicative of "normal" Christians. If you're sincere about finding more information, talk to someone one-on-one, in person. Just as it's difficult to get unbiased information in the alt.abortion newsgroup, you wont get anywhere talking to fundamentalists.

Find some forum that isn't about "recruiting" or "evangelism". You can't trust people who are, by their own definition, trying to convince you of their way of viewing existence.

  16. Muffin:

My degree is actually in Social Work, which means I did take a lot of psych classes. But no, I'm not a therapist by any stretch. I probably only know enough to make a bad guess in this case. It's just that Terry strikes me as a person so conflicted within himself as to be potentially dangerous. I probably just watch too much television.
