Words of Wisdom from a Christian

It's not often that I'll commend a theist on their good sense, but this comment just cannot pass unmarked.

Over on "Atheist Central", on the irony-overdose post titled "Gullible Humanity", Carla Simian writes...

Ray - it seems to me that the people taking part in the comments in this blog are either:
Atheists that tear you to pieces and often leave you exposed as less than virtuous, or
Your hardened fans who make Christians appear insane.

The regular sensible Christians who used to come here for Comfort Food no longer seem to participate. I suspect they have been frightened off.

On top of that, details of your finances and thos of Way of the Master have appeared, and they do not cast a kindly light. Probably making more people stay away.

I truly believe that your tactic of targetting and baiting atheists has been detrimental to your ministry through this blog.

I believe that if you humble your heart and listen to the Lord, you might hear Him telling you to rename this blog Comfort Food and go back to the basics of evangelism. Jesus didn't command his disciples to debate science and logic, but to spread the Good News.

Carla

Bravo, Carla. Bravo. It's truly heartening to see some non-atheists that aren't suckered in by Ray's poisonous rhetoric.

    That's gotta leave a mark.......

I have been wondering about the "simian" part of the handle...a bit suspicious.

  2. Woah! The Rayniacs will smite her for that!

  3. Meanwhile, Kaitlyn is starting to discover just how difficult being a "friendly atheist" is over at the swamp.

    Go Carla Simian!

  4. haha Ray got schooled by one of his own. That's awesome!

  5. Well at some point something has to stir in the depths of a supressed mind. That little voice that, when it can no longer be silenced, will yell, "Yes I have may faith in God, but this dude here is just batshit crazy and must think I'm a complete idiot."

  6. And of course, Super Asshole Terry Burton jumped all over her. He told her she needed to apologize. Man, I could enjoy myself by smacking the shit out of him.

Well, that didn't tale long. From the resident village idiot of "Atheist Central", Terry:

    @ Carla,

Where's the Love sister ? "Love One Another!" Jesus said.

you said "Your hardened fans who make Christians appear insane."

You could not be further from the truth. I am not a fan of Ray Comfort, or Kirk Cameron.

Both these men are Men of God.
Our brothers in the Lord. I have alot of respect for them and their service to the Lord. You should
show some respect for the Family.

A blanket statement from a 'babe in Christ' is both insulting and disrespectful. You owe every Christian on this blog an apology. I forgive you, and tell you I love you like a sister.

If you haven't noticed there are hyperlinks to both livingwaters and wayofthemaster products and plenty of links in the archives.

Praying for you! I hope you are just having a bad day, and everything is alright now.
    God Bless!

    We Love Ya Carla!!! :)
    Atheists too!!! Take care ...

    Vintage Terry.

  8. Terry isn't a fan of Ray or Kirk?

    lmao

Thou hath violateth the 9th Commandment again, Terry!

Stop doing that. I don't want you in Hell with me.

  9. oh I see, when jesbus said "love one another" he only meant to love other christians *headdesk*

"You could not be further from the truth. I am not a fan of Ray Comfort, or Kirk Cameron."

That is the biggest lie of all time!

  11. This brings up a question I've been tempted to ask Ray for a while:

"When you read the comments by your main supporters, such as Terry, and realize how idiotic they are, do you question the intellectual value of your own writing and thought?"

Ray would never answer, so why bother, but it is still something that interests me. I wonder what Ray really thinks in this regard. It's like if you're a musician and learn that all your fans have terrible musical tastes...you'd probably start to doubt yourself.

While I don't think Ray is smart, I'm skeptical that he can't recognize the idiocy of Terry and the other leading Rayniacs.

  12. I tried being a friendly atheist. Lasted about 5 minutes, if even.

  13. Just cross-posting a reply to Ray over here, as I'm pretty sure the reply won't make it past Mr. Censor Man over there:

    _____________________________________

    Ray sez:

Jean...don't forget that many unsaved people read this blog.

Somehow, I doubt that, Ray. At any rate, you had better hope not. Being exposed as a fool, a hypocrite, and a liar day in and day out can't be helping you win very many new acolytes.

Interesting, that you replied to Jean's agreement to Carla, but not to Carla herself. Hmm...

I don't get it. If it's not just about atheists how come he named his blog "atheist central" and is he implying there is a difference between the "unsaved" and atheists?

  15. Because Ray Comfort is a dishonest moron. Go back to July 18th when the "strike" began. At least half, if not more, of his posts since then have been about atheists/atheism and/or evolution. He wouldn't get any attention if he didn't post about those things. His most recent Spurgeon Gold post has received just 11 comments. Fuck him and his fleeced flock.

  16. Who goes over to Ray's?

I'd like to invite her to join us, but I'd have to go over to Ray's to do it.

So--Can the next one of the heathens to post over there maybe pass that along?

    Thanks

  17. Capt,

If you see this shoot me an email, I have a question.

  18. Get Kaitlyn over here, too. I think it's safe to say she's rapidly becoming a Raytractor. :-P

No Living Water plant can have that strong a grasp of evolution and physics.

  19. "When you read the comments by your main supporters, such as Terry, and realize how idiotic they are, do you question the intellectual value of your own writing and thought?"

I know I'd start to question where I'd gone so horribly wrong if Terry Burton was cyber-stalking me with such sycophantic praise.

  20. And Carla responds:

    Ray -

Jean...don't forget that many unsaved people read this blog. It's not just about the atheists. Please pray for them. Thanks, Ray

And just think what a fine impression they must be getting.

    Terry - leave me alone.

Jean - I read your blog. You are a strong sister in Christ. Try claim some of that strength and confidence for yourself to think outside of your chains. Ndinokuda mukoma.

I bolded the best parts. Especially her note to Terry. I don't know why I find that so awesome, I just do.

  21. I tried being a friendly atheist over there for a little bit too. That shit got old real fast.

  22. The simian bit had me raising an eyebrow too. The Irony would be simply too great. The universe would have exploded making a sound like incredulous laughter.
