Over at Ray's a comment by Mike and Lizette's Bogus Journey has caught my attention. He said:
"No assumption and no justification needed on my part, since I violated everyone of the commandments before I repented put my faith in Christ alone, the same goes for my wife for whom God has blessed me with."
I really do not know where he is coming from since one of the commandments prohibits murder. I am under the assumption that he knows his commandments and has never committed murder before. I also know that many mainstream Christians would not consider themselves in violation of that commandment. Thus, I am left to believe that he is using a rather broad definition of murder. Does anyone know what this definition is? Is this definition something that Ray advocates through his ministry and books to brainwash the gullible into believing they are "sinners" in every way?

If you hate somebody you've committed murder in your heart. Ray's issued pronouncements about it a number of times.
ReplyDeleteJust wait--he'll do it again before long. Ray's nothing if not repetitive.
Thanks. I figured it would probably end up being some thought crime bullshit.
ReplyDeleteAlso, to look at a man/woman with 'lust in your heart' is to commit adultery.
ReplyDeleteBasically, this and the 'mureder at heart' thing are equivalent to being convicted of though crimes.
Big Brother is watching, Winston
Thought crime; exactly.
ReplyDeleteChristianity really is a big, cosmic mindfuck.
I have to get off the computer - been on here too long already today - but I just had to say I am ending here for now with a good chuckle (I mean that in the nicest way - not sarcastically or ugly).
ReplyDeleteYou guys crack me up - you don't beleive anything he says, but you sure can teach Ray.
I know (because the Bible tells me so!!!) that it will bear fruit in you someday.
Blessings,
Patti

ReplyDeletebananas, right? ;)
Patti,
ReplyDeleteI know (because the Bible tells me so!!!) that it will bear fruit in you someday.
You do not know this. You may speculate about it, you may believe it to be true, but you do not know it.
In addition, that is a very annoying statement.
The thought crime thing is one of the reasons christian girls are so easy.
ReplyDeleteOnce they realise that they have already commited adultery by looking at you they think "shit, may as well be hung for a sheep as for a lamb" and you're in there.
Apparantly.

I love a sense of humor - actually I am very much a watermelon-aholic right now.

I appreciate the amount of effort that took to hold back several other commetns that I "suspect"(is that a good word?) came to your mind(really) -
Gratefully yours,
Patti
Patti,
ReplyDeleteNo, I didn't have to hold back. I don't swear at you for reasons that you don't even know about. There is a wide range of difference between you and someone like Michelle, towards whom I have no problem being as vile I can possibly be. (Hint: it has nothing to do with theology.)
If you ever want to know shoot me an email. If not, that's fine also.
Has he also carved graven images?
ReplyDeleteIt's that weird fundy trait of always thinking and speaking in absolutes.
Stew is that what Noah Pashapa taught you?
ReplyDeleteMaybe he cooked a kid in its mother's milk. or forgot to sacrifice firstborn male animals to Yahweh. Whoops sorry, wrong
ReplyDeleteten commandments (Exodus 34:10-26)

They count metaphorical idolatry as a violation of this commandment, like loving money more than you love God.
IMO, M&L's idolatry is the Bible. I suggest that there are horrors in the Bible condoned by God, and they go off accusing me of blasphemy, saying I accused God.
Their god is the Bible, not the god they claim wrote the Bible. I'd say that goes for most creationists I've encountered.
Jean, was I ever disappointed to find Pashapa kissing Mugabe's feet through these past few years.
ReplyDeleteWhat a surprise to find it is the Catholic leaders like Pious Ncube who have had the courage to speak out, while the evangelicals like Pashapa have failed.
Ncube is a hero and and an inspiration to me.

ReplyDeleteThis is a very astute observation, Jason. I think you all know by now that I believe the Bible to be the inerrant word of God - but there is a certain mindset that I find distrubing that seems to go beyond that - and elevate the Bible over the Lord. I don't think that is quite what Jason is saying - but sort of a parallel concept.
I have seen many Christians feel quite rightous to make all kinds of theological prounouncments - and never actually do anything. While a little sister is dying for a sip of water, they are preaching at them.
I hope that I can always worship and obey God - and not merely the word He wrote.
Blessings,
Patti
Patti, I don't think of the Bible as the Word of God in the same sense as you do, but otherwise that's exactly what I'm saying.

Hope you mean what he says not what he does!!!
