Interesting article from the New York Times.
Excerpt:
“Ten questions to ask your biology teacher about evolution,” a document by Jonathan Wells, a senior fellow at the Discovery Institute, a Seattle-based group that advocates intelligent design, aims to highlight the weaknesses in evolutionary theory. Here are his questions, along with responses compiled by the National Center for Science Education. More questions can be found on Dr. Wells’s site, http://www.iconsofevolution.com/ More information about biological evolution can be found at http://nationalacademies.org/evolution/.

I bet very soon Ray uses the DI's questions, but not the NCSE answers.
ReplyDeleteI was a little frightened when I saw it was Jonathan Wells list in an article in the New York Times. I was please to discover that the questions were followed by intelligent answers.
ReplyDeleteI hope we continue seeing more articles like this. Though it won't sway those already committed to the DI propaganda, I'm confident it will help clarify things for the more intelligent general public.
Thanks for the post nonmagic!

Jonathan Wells needs all the debunking he can get. Good find, NM.
ReplyDeleteAC,
ReplyDeleteI felt the same- Relieved to see the responces.
I saw something out of Florida where a teacher is introuble with students for teaching evolution.
Another teacher in the same school is not teaching evolution.
This is a very sensitive issue in the bible belt. We haven't had this type of problem (much) here in Western PA.
Has anyone else noticed that the last dozen post by Comfort have shyed away from science and are adressing only moralistic positions?
ReplyDeleteHis last posts have been about
Capitalization (as in grammar)
Gods Stick (invented sin)
Abortion (invented sin)
Fucking (pleasurable invented sin)
Love the sinner (more sin)
Indiana Jones (righteousness)
Vengeance (more sin & hell)
We cant lose (righteousness & hell)
We annoy (annoying righteousness)
Hating God (sin)
Threat of hell (hell & more hell)
Murdering God (when God kills its OK)
Evidence -on Aug 18th he got pwnd
Think it could be that is getting tired of being thoroughly and effectively rebuffed whenever he spouts disproven nonsense?
The more he has to show ridiculous babble instead of evidence and science and reason, the more foolish he looks.
Instead of responding to the brain-dead likes of Terry, Vera, H132, Mark Laine, and Justin, I will address questions directly to Ray about inerrancy, specifically about him accepting a global flood myth, when all evidence indicates there was no global flood. Let's blind him with science.
I also want to send a cute teddy bear to Kaitlyn, she is a sweetie!
