Freinds, Noblepeople, and Raytractors, Lend Me your Ears

In the last few posts I have detected a more than normal amount of outrage. Outrage is good, but you're not using enough profane words. I mean, if you really get pissed off, let it out.

More importantly though, ol' Ray has done it again. He has tripped your trigger, pissed in your wheaties, rained on your parade, and bursted your baloons to the point where we are descending in to chaos. As I have articulated in the past, we need to make a plan. But then, I realize that one of our weaknesses, as freethinkers is that we are not particularly clannish.

Speaking for myself, I am a hopeless introvert. I studied two modules of psychology and never realized my own condition. I ended up in a sensitive management position and I went through a gruelling self evauation, and I will tell you it was the most emotionally revealing moment I ever had. I finally came to the realization of why I could pull my energy out of myself, while realizing that most people pulled their energy from other people; the acceptance and the recognition; I don't need that crap. Never did. I am self actualizing.

Having said all that, even now, my wife is sensitive to my ecentricities. Last year about this time she had an Icon on my laptop with the title, "Care and Feeding of your Introvert." I was laughing as I clicked on it! She's got me figured out! Ha ha, I have her figured out too! But, not gonna go there now.....a,hem.

So, Ol' dale just wanted to get some perspective on all of us as members of the most advanced society ever know to humankind. And, by the way, I am not going to proof this so if there are any mystakes, too bad. /d

Post Script: You are taking Ray Comfort much too seriously.

  2. Would you have thoughts and opinions if others didn't have thoughts and opinions different from yours?

How would you know if anyone liked you if you've never known what it's like to be disliked? If the temperature never changed, how would you know if you were too hot, or too cold? If you've never felt pain, how would know you felt good?

I say, it's not about right or wrong. If Ray makes you angry, it means you're alive and you should thank him for that. That is why one should always turn the other cheek; because you were just given the realization of goodness in that moment of pain. What do you say when something amazing happens? "PINCH ME." just to make sure it's real.

In this case, many of you may feel justified because fundies are such morons. So where would be your justification otherwise?

One of my favorite movie quotes is the following:
"Sometimes you gotta' spit in the devils face to make sure you're still alive."

I'm not trying to pick on anyone here, or even speak negatively, or like I know something, because I'm an idiot. Just think about it though. There's no truth and there's no God.

Well, a,hem.. at least we can all agree that you are an idiot! But,I, personally would appreciate it if you would discontinue announciny it because it is readily apparant.

More importantly, though, you ask the good questions, and if you ever quit doing that, then you and I will have a problem. I can't forsee that happening, though!

  4. Moderate introvert here. I wonder if most internet forum users have some degree of introversion?

I agree that reacting to Ray is to give him satisfaction. But then, if you enjoy slapping him down, why not? The trick is, as you say, not to take him seriously.

Is it my imagination or are the Christians starting to fall away as Ray becomes more outrageous with only the more extreme nutters left?

I used that in a generic way. Fear not. We can overthrow those scumsuckers.

At least you understand the concept! Thanks.

I do think Ray has driven away his core supporters. It might be that they are just down at the beach on vacation.

  8. I'm about as INTJ as they come. Books beat humans any any of the week. I'm so empathetic as to spiral into deep depressions over the suffering of those that can not help themselves, but I am dismissive and distant otherwise. It's just the way it's always been. I also withdraw from others for long periods of time to contemplate things that are of no meaning to anyone other than myself. :::That concludes the sum total of what I learned about myself after 5 years of psychology and many years of therapy. Enjoy the useless knowledge::::

I feel like we've gotten soft and have become to PC, but that's just me.

  9. NMT,

INTJ, you poor thing! I thought I was the only one......

  10. INFJ here.

Apparently I prefer feeling to thinking - which I guess is true in certain situations. I'll often allow my emotions to govern tough decisions - especially in relation to other people.
Doesn't really sound like an atheistic trait, though. = /

  11. But so far we're all coming up introverts. Interesting.

Dale, I don't think there are many of us.

  12. NMT,
"I also withdraw from others for long periods of time to contemplate things that are of no meaning to anyone other than myself."

We are less than 2% of the population, less than 1% by some accounts.

My wife is an ENFP and can be disconcertingly spontaneous. She does manage to drag me into social situations/ events where I have learned how to act comparatively normal!

  13. I'm an INTJ as well,
just had one of these at work about a month ago.

  14. INTJ here too (with very expressed introvert)...I'm wondering if there are any Raytractors that aren't INTJs.

  15. I just did a quick internet Myers-Briggs test, and it tells me I'm an ESFP.

But I don't know if this test is one to trust, I bet there are better places to get it done.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Shag,
"ESFPs live in the world of people possibilties. They love people and new experiences. They are lively and fun, and enjoy being the center of attention. They live in the here-and-now, and relish excitement and drama in their lives.

ESFPs have very strong inter-personal skills, and may find themselves in the role of the peacemaker frequently. Since they make decisions by using their personal values, they are usually very sympathetic and concerned for other people's well-being. They're usually quite generous and warm."

    Does that sound like you?

I can't remember how many questions are in the formal Briggs-Myers test but if the questions are answered honestly, the test will give a general overall view of personality.

I think it quite humorous how "Is" have an easy time understanding "Es," But most Es totally misunderstand Is.

In fact, my wife and I and another couple are hosting our monthly pot luck dinner at the boat club this evening so I'll get my monthly quota of small talk.
