Raymond, forgive me for I have sinned

I just had to apologise to Ray Comfort and now I feel dirty and confused.

Has anyone got a baby I can eat to get the taste out of my mouth?

  1. Whut?? Why did you have to apologise to el Comfort? Not for his "they found my childish inability to avoid smashing my environment funny" thing, surely? If my five year old had done that I would've been annoyed with her, but a fully grown adult? That's just pathetic.

  2. Nah, 'cause I assumed that he must be 'stealing' the telephone calls because you pay for local calls in the UK where I live.

  3. I live in the UK, too and I get free evening and weekend calls, but if you use my telephone without asking I would consider that impolite, if not outright theft. For a man who considers thinking bad thoughts about someone equivalent to murdering them, pointing out that the calls were free is splitting the very thinest of hairs. Or, to put it another way, fukim.

  4. Yeah, but it was 1976 when Ray says this happened. I don't think we got free calls back then. There was only BT for a start, so no reason to!

I assume Ray was still in NZ back then and that they did have free evening calls.

  5. Buy You'll never hear Ray Comfort apologize. Well, at least to a real, live human being.

  6. Funnily enough Ray did apologise a few posts down:

    "Ray Comfort said...

    "Chris Blanchard said...
    Ray Comfort:

"Baldy...they were local calls. Didn't cost a thing. The radio station's owners had a sense of humor and thought it was funny. They still do, after all these years."

Neither of these rationalizations changes the fact that fiddling with somebody else's things while in their place of business is rude and disrespectful."

Chris...You are absolutely right. Lesson learned.

His beliefs may be laughable. It is possible that he is a charlatan. But let's not make a monster out of him.

  7. Wow - I missed that AG.

I still think the man is an ass, but that little bit of honesty makes me wonder if he's capable of better.

  8. I live in Australia. And I'm pretty sure that we have had to pay for local calls until the last couple of years. In fact, I still do. (a few cents untimed)

New Zealand is smaller and in the 70's, I bet you still had to pay for local calls.

Ray doesn't say where this happened but my understanding is he didn't move to the USA until the late 80's.

  10. If the company was paying any phone bill at all, regardless of whether they had long distance coverage, when it comes to nitpicking like that any unauthorized phone usage would be Ray stealing calls. He would just be stealing a small portion of the flat fee, rather than a per-minute rate.

    Shouldnta had ta 'poligize.

Repost, by the way, forgot to sign in as myself.
