    Maybe this guy will found a subset of evangelicals that aren't as intolerant as is usual.

    Sounds like to me that this guy was more moderate and the other fundies pushed him out because he wasn't extreme enough. That happens all the time. I've seen pastors asked to resign because they have slightly liberal views. The fundies are cutting their own throats by doing this.

    I'm only surprised it didn't happen several years ago.

    You can say any hateful thing you want to, throw in the word "Jesus", and they'll embrace you - but try to inject a little humaneness into the mix, and they'll turn on you before you can catch your breath. Vicious, miserable psychopaths.

    And yeah - Warren is just fundie lite. A casual perusal of his oeuvre is enough to make one realize it.
