Ray Comfort's God Can Suck It
In his latest debacle of a post, Ray says the following:
"To those of you who love the Lord--I would ask for your continued prayers for the future (something exciting is coming up). Those of you who don't love Him--please don't waste your time praying. God doesn't hear the prayers of those with a proud heart or those with any willful sin in their lives. He resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. So Mr. Atheist, if you have ever prayed and concluded that God didn't hear your prayers, you are right in that He didn't, but wrong in your conclusion that He doesn't exist. You were the one with the problem, not God."
Now, this brings to mind the question of why an atheist would pray in the first place. Of course, Ray doesn't think an atheist would be praying, it's just more of the same old baiting and trying to get attention through pissing off people that don't believe in his invisible friend. Way to win souls, Ray. But wait, it gets better.
Ever wondered how, if you wanted to become a Christian, you could do that? Aren't they always telling us we have to pray and ask their deity to save us? Well, forget it, it no longer works that way. God doesn't hear the prayers of the unsaved anymore. He's closed up shop and now only hears the prayers of those that believe in him in the first place. So if you were thinking of testing the waters to see if God would listen to your prayers, he doesn't. Thanks for confirming that your God is a prick who only hears what he wants to hear, Ray. He sounds a lot like you.
Also, if you are a Christian, but you've willfully sinned, according to Ray you can't ever be forgiven because his God won't listen:
"God doesn't hear the prayers of those with a proud heart or those with any willful sin in their lives."
Basically, Ray's whole post can be summed up like this: Nanny Nanny poo-poo, my God doesn't hear you !!!
And never forget folks, if Ray's God doesn't hear your prayers it's all your fault anyway.

Mwah! Ha! Ha! Who's the smoker? Why don't you shave? What's the book?
Can you identify anybody, or yourself in this pic?
Oh dear...
Be sure to watch the whole thing to see where it gets really bizarre.
Oh, and a Christian friend of mine sent it to me - not because he thought it was good. He laughs at it for the same reasons we (or all sane people) do.

Dear Terry...
Dear Terry,
You wrote to me...
Then you recently said this:
I want you to know that I'm sorry if I came across as a psycho bitch.
I also forgive you for calling me a bitch, a liar, a witch, and other names. And I also forgive you for acting so rudely toward me when I reached out to you to get saved.
You wrote to me...
I only wish Hell on satan and his disciples. If you are a disciple, then I hope you do go to Hell. Because, you have sold your soul to the devil. Its that simple!
...
Laugh as you want witch, you will burn!
...
You will answer for your crimes on Judgement Day! Hope you like the smell of sulfur and brimstone.
...
You lied to Myself and Tony! Switch that from 'witch' to a spelling with "B".
Don't waste our time with bogus
decisions for Christ. Ok?
...
May God forgive you for your evil deeds. Tony is a busy man with his ministry. I doubt seriously that you are legally blind.
Just a typical atheist liar.
...
Playing video games? Isn't that a little bit impossible for a legally blind person.
I don't believe anything you say!
...
Then you recently said this:
The recent Kaitlyn conversion, then 'reversal' did not help matters. Just a childish game on Kaitlyn's part. She wasted several Christian's time & efforts with a bunch of lies!
We felt sorry for her, and reached out a helping hand. She bit us like a psycho dog.
I want you to know that I'm sorry if I came across as a psycho bitch.
I also forgive you for calling me a bitch, a liar, a witch, and other names. And I also forgive you for acting so rudely toward me when I reached out to you to get saved.
Are you ready to bust a move for God?!
If this is the kind of stuff Christians are made to watch, I can understand why they're fervent for the end of days.
Jesus is a Friend of Mine!
Rock out, Raytractors!
Jesus taught you to turn the other cheek when people laugh at you, eh? What luck!

Now, I fully respect Ray's right to censor anything and everything he likes on his blog. It is his blog, after all. But the thing is, he has a very specific list of things that he will censor, and that makes us assume that he isn't going to censor anything that does not break the rules in that list. And yet, perfectly reasonable posts occasionally seem to fail to appear...
Recently, to Ray's "going to shut down the blog" pity party, I made a joke comment. This was published. After a few hours, I realised that the theists there likely have a 0% humour value, so I posted an extensive retraction and my thoughts on the subject.
The content of this second post was civil and polite (as usual), and merely stated that I had enjoyed participating in the Evo vs Crea debate for some time for the intellectual stimulation, and had found the knowledge of those theists on Atheist Central, including the Blog master, lacking. As a result, I would be relieved to leave them to it: unlike my participation in other creationist forums, I had not learned anything new or even had to refer to a source other than memory more than twice. I also pointed out that I felt his ministry was leading people away from God, rather than to Him/Her/It. Finally, I expressed my regret that shutting down the blog would decrease the traffic to the Raytractors, and thanked Ray for leading be to them via Atheist Central, because I had found them to be a logical, witty and humorous group of people.
It hasn't shown up. I recently posted this in the same thread.
Ray, I'm curious as to why my second comment did not get through moderation. After thinking about it, I indicated that my first post, which was meant as a joke, and posted my true thoughts on the concept of you closing down this blog several hours later.
This second post contained absolutely nothing that could be considered foul language, no links, capitalised all mentions of God and was decent and civil.
I would appreciate knowing why it did not appear.
Thanking you in advance,
Qu.
I thought a good project, inspired by The Quote Mine Project, would be this: let's gather copies (preferably) or just or just provide summaries (like mine above) of those posts which don't break any of Ray's rules, but have mysteriously vanished when submitted to Ray for moderation. Jaser mentioned one in Nonmagic's "Why I did what I did and why I'm not sorry." thread, and I believe Rufus did also. Post them in the comments for this thread, so we can all see what Ray doesn't want us to!

Where's Terry Burton?
I am so eagerly awaiting to hear from you, Terry. I want to know your thoughts on the possibility of Ray shutting down his blog because of us evil, nasty atheists. Please, don't deny us your insight, your rationality, your warmth. Come to us, Terry. Unburden your heart. Let your insanity flow free.
Nice company
seems as if Ray has an islamic brother...
He's called Harun Yahya.
Strangely his comments seem to make some sense as long as you have no clue but he is just shamelessly lying.

I stumbled upon an interview with this guy. Unfortunately it's in German, but if you want to have a look:

GIMP Tutorial - Swap a face
Given the amount of photo editing going on with the Raytractors lately, I thought it would be a good idea to do a GIMP tutorial to show how to do some fun photo editing.
So first, we need a base image and a victi... volunteer to swap faces.

Yes, yes, these two will do nicely.
Step 1 - Scale the images. The strawman image is way too big compared to Ray's face. We need to scale it down. Go to Image -> Scale Image.

Step 2 - Make a new layer for the strawman image. Set the background to a solid color. We are going to be "poking holes" through the strawman image. Go to Layer -> New Layer. Copy and past the background. Use the fill tool on the background to set it to a solid color.

Step 3 - Create a mask for the strawman image. A mask is like a transparancy channel where white is opaque and black is transparent. We're going to make a fully opaque mask. Right click on the layer to add a mask.

Step 4 - Take a paintbrush and start drawing black over the mask layer. It will reveal the background. Use a brush with a "fuzzy" edge. It will help the edges blend better with the background.

Step 5 - Zoom in with and use a smaller brush where you have to.

Step 6 - Crease a new layer (Layer -> New Layer) above the background and below the strawman image. Copy and paste the image of our vict... err... volunteer.

Step 7 - Use the layer zoom and rotation tools to fit the image of the volunteer onto the body of the strawman.

Step 8 - Edit the mask layer as needed to fix any spots that need a little more transparency.

Step 9 - Use the Effects -> Light & Shadow -> Drop Shadow filter on the strawman image to have it cast a shadow on Ray's face. Use the Effects -> Light & Shadow -> Lighting Effects on the victi... volunteer's face to help match the lighting with the original image. Adjust the contract and brightness on the volunteer's face to help it blend in with the strawman image (Colors -> Brightness Contrast).

(Note: The image above only has the drop shadow added.)
And... We're done!

Why I did what I did and why I'm not sorry.
An open letter to theists and atheists alike:
In light of Ray's pity party he's holding for himself and in light of the discussion going on here about my posting a porno pic of Ray in my avatar and slipping it through comments several, several times on his blog, I thought I should clear the air in a post as to why I did what I did and how I feel about the current opinion(s) of others about it.
Since I realize the readers of Ray's blog read here also, you need to know that this wasn't done in the name of atheism, because I'm an atheist, or because of any nonsense about an evil character named Satan that you guys think is my 'father'. It was done to prove a point and out of frustration at Ray lashing out at people for absolutely no good reason at all. I'll get to all that in a moment.
First of all it was my idea, my execution, all my work. Even though there were others that agreed with me at the time that it might be a good and funny idea, I am solely responsible for every bit of it. 100% responsible. And I'm not apologizing. Now , if you want to think that I am or was under the influence of some evil force, go right ahead. You will anyway because you think that about everyone who doesn't share your beliefs no matter what they do. I do not care.
Second, this is not about Maragon on a personal level. This is about Ray asking an already fully clothed woman to change her avatar photo to 'something more modest'. There was absolutely no reason, other than to goad a female and try to impose his antiquated religious beliefs about modesty on her, for Ray to have made that comment. Has Ray ever asked a fully clothed MALE to cover himself? No, I don't think so. But a female exposing anything more than a snippet of facial skin elicited a response from him that was absolutely uncalled for. If Ray wants to try to start the American Taliban, I'm going to be the first one to oppose it. Also, I would have done the same had he made that remark about any other fully clothed female.
In my opinion, Ray got what he deserved in this situation. I set out to bitch-slap him with something to whine about as opposed to whining about a few inches of exposed flesh on a fully clothed female and to show him what real immodesty was and as far as I'm concerned I accomplished my goal.
Now about the opinions of others regarding what I did. I don't think it's a big secret that I am not a sheep to the popular opinions of others. I never have been and I'm not about to start now. If you think what I did was childish, rude, or whatever other adjectives you want to apply to my actions then go right ahead and think that. Give a voice to it if you want. As a matter of fact I encourage you to because it's not healthy to keep things bottled up. But please don't be so naive as to think I'm thin skinned enough to be swayed by your opinion or to have a hurt feeling over it. It takes a hell of a lot more than opinions over a porn pic of Comfort to hurt my feelings.
And to the theists at Ray's, please do not think that you will bully me into feeling guilty, apologizing, or caring what you think of my actions. You guys have a long history of calling every single person that does not agree with your theology a long list of names like liar, murderer, adulterer, child of Satan, thieves, ect. Don't think your opinion means anything to me now or you will only disappoint yourself. I'm a strong-willed, free thinking, autonomous female and yes, I do have a bitch streak a few miles wide that runs through me. I've never made a secret of it so if you think you'd be pointing out some new information to me by letting me know that, think again.
I did what I did, I'm not ashamed of it, I'm not apologizing for it. Fire away.
Edit: And for those calling for Ray to have my account shut down, go right ahead and run yourselves ragged doing that. The second you accomplish it, if and when you should, I'll just get another one. Really, nothing phases me.

We don't do things in the name of atheism.

I felt this should be brought up because without a doubt Ray's latest post about the possibility of stopping his blog will bring out the people raising this issue. I can feel the swelling of the masses who post there preparing to say the things that were done, were done in the name of atheism.
By definition, things can not be done in the name of atheism. People do not act on things in which they do not believe. The place most people get confused is the difference between atheism and anti-theism. Atheism is the disbelief in a God or gods whereas anti-theism is active opposition to theism.
Now it is typically an atheist who practices anti-theism, though a theist who practices anti-theism would indeed be a rare and self-hating individual. It is in my own opinion (and there may be others who disagree with me on this point) that anti-theism is something which can be acted upon. For me, anti-theism is the belief that theism is a destructive and harmful system. Just like other positive beliefs (by positive I mean belief in something and not the disbelief of something) there may or may not be evidence to back up this belief. And also like other positive beliefs, there can be varying degrees of zeal.
When theists attack atheism and cite Communist China or Communist Russia as examples of the evils of atheism, they are attacking a straw man. It was not atheism that caused the problems there, but rather it was severely radical anti-theism that was used by the Communist system.
What happened on Ray's blog wasn't motivated by atheism in the slightest sense. At the worst, it was childish anti-theism and most likely not even that. The parties involved probably did what they did for the same reason I sometimes post on Ray's blog.
None of what I do over at Ray's is inspired by being an atheist and probably not even from being anti-theism. I post what I post because Ray attacks some of my own personal positive beliefs. My belief that truth is objective and that truth does not vary from person to person. My belief that humans can choose right and wrong independently. My belief that science can find the answers to all questions. My belief that not knowing something or admitting when you're wrong is a good thing. All of those beliefs are supported by evidence; all of those beliefs are attacked on Ray's blog weekly, if not daily. That is why I post there, not atheism.
Edit: I don't want it to seem like I'm chastising nonmagic for what was done. I'm just saying that the actions taken weren't done because of atheism, but rather because of Ray's outrage over Maragon's unoffensive profile picture. Rock on!
Copyright and Blogging
Has anyone else considered whether Ray might be using his blog as the basis for one of his new books..?
If so, and he's planning on using the comments in his book, it would be worth considering the copyright issue.
All of us making comments have copyright in the creation of those comments. As soon as you create work "fixed in any tangible medium" (paraphrase), you have copyright. I'm British, but as I understand it, the copyright law on this particular point is identical on both sides of the Atlantic.
The law is somewhat blurred, however. When posting a blog comment, you are clearly granting the blog owner a licence to display your copyright work, but the limit of that license is somewhat unclear.
I am sure that none of us here would like to think of Ray using our words to profit (or indeed 'prophet'*... ). He has, as you will have seen, a set of guidelines, but they refer to the importance of capitalising the name of jeebus and his friends, not using bad words, and worst of all, the use of links that might possible assist his readers in seeing through Ray's dishonesty. From a little research, it seems that best practise is to include a 'Terms of Service' to clarify the sitation. This might state something like the following (from http://www.reasonableman.com/ where I've got some of the info for this piece):
Information Rights. The Proprietor does not claim ownership of Content you submit or make available for inclusion on the Service. However, with respect to Content you submit or make available for inclusion on the Service, including without limitation comments you post to the Service, you grant the Proprietor world-wide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty free, non-exclusive, fully sub-licensable license(s) to use, distribute, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, publicly perform and publicly display such Content (in whole or in part) and to incorporate such Content into other works in any format or medium now known or later developed.
Although that might appear scary, it's not actually unreasonable and is enforcable... as long as your readers are aware of it before posting. With Ray's blog, there's no clarification on this matter, and therefore, it cannot be claimed that a person could be reasonably expected to know that they were giving away their rights to their copyright material.
I therefore propose that until such time as Ray introduces such a Terms of Service, that all posts to his blog contain some sort of following caveat:
"This comment is copyrighted and is licenced for use on http://raycomfortfood.blogspot.com/ only. No licence is granted to further use, distribute, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, publicly perform and publicly display such Content (in whole or in part) and to incorporate such Content into other works in any format or medium now known or later developed without the written permission of the copyright holder."
* sorry...

Will he do it?
In Ray's latest, he hints he might shut down his blog.
I really don't care if he does or not. But, what about YOU?
PS. Don't worry Terry, you can always watch and slobber over his television show.
You cracked him
There it is again.
Somebody remembers his comments, because they 'mysteriously' vanished?
Is Ray a coward or a hypocrite?

Further to the Atheist Challenge
For some unknown reason, this post completely disappeared without any trace. For those of you who asked about its whereabouts, I will rewrite it from memory, and add a few thoughts:
I (Ray) said, "Besides, for an atheist, life has no rhyme nor reason..."
Adam Nordoli replied: "Dude! That's not true and you know it!"
Okay. What is the purpose for human existence? I don’t mean, what do we do while we are here--finding happiness, partying, helping people, etc. I mean, Why are we here--what’s our purpose?
There was a deafening silence from those folks who normally make comments, and those that did comment readily conceded that they didn't know why they exist.
This is because it's true that the atheist has no idea where he came from (his origins). He has no idea why here is alive (his purpose in being alive) and he has no idea what's in store for him after his death (his eternal destiny). Again, this was made very clear from their comments.
The sad and pitiful atheist is like a lost sheep, waiting around for death (like a vicious wolf) to take him by the throat. How bewildering and even frightening for anyone who thinks about the heavy issues of life.
Dictionary: Lost: "Having gone astray or missed the way; bewildered as to place, direction, etc.: lost children."
The Bible: "All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way . . . " (Isaiah 53:6)
Jesus: "For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost" (Luke 19:10)
My own testimony: "Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost, but now I'm found. Was blind, but now I see."

An Army Of None
Which way to the war?
Evangelical Christians tell us we are at war. They call for Christians to be "soldiers of Christ". To put on the "Full Armor of God". To do battle against "evil". To fight for Christ.
Metaphorically? Ray Comfort, in a recent post said- "There is nothing metaphoric about the battle in which we find ourselves." If this is not a figure of speech, a symbol, does this have any basis in reality?
No. There is no basis in reality. This battle against evil is chimerical. It is imaginary. It relies solely on a mere supposition, a conjecture of what may possibly occur after death. Supported only by a book written by bronze age men, which has been mistranslated and misinterpreted for the past 2 millennium.
There is no evidence of the battle of evil. It exists only in the minds of religious zealots and prudes who belong in past centuries who cannot accept natural human sexuality nor scientific advancement and which shows their outdated religions to be false.
Yet war itself is the harshest of reality. I sincerely hope that all rational thinkers reject and refute statements by Evangelical Christians making references to "enemies", "soldiers of Christ", battling against "evil" and other such authoritarian and war-like tomes. From such talk only comes oppression.
Who will be the one who is not "blinded by Satan", the one who can direct the "soldiers of Christ" and define their mission? Who will they cast as the next "enemy" of Christianity? Jews? (been there, done that, but always good for demonification) Atheists? Artists? Musicians? Homosexuals?
Albert Einstein said - "The handful of those who are really determined to do something is minute in comparison with the mass of the lukewarm and the misguided. And those who have an interest in keeping the machinery of war going are a very powerful body; they will stop at nothing to make public opinion subservient to their murderous ends."
Ray Comfort says- "So don’t be concerned about us seeing you as the enemy."
(Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain, Dorothy!)
Be very concerned! Ray Comfort is a false prophet, a false teacher, and a fraud. Identifying enemies is a certain prelude to war. No one should consider themselves a "Soldier for Christ" or conceive of "God's Army", or speak of "battles". That is antithetical to what Christ, the Prince of Peace really preached-
"Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called [known as] the children of God".

She's a Christian!!!
Well, recently in one of the most humorous and sadistic comments by 'Terry' AKA 'Man with a badge' AKA 'Dufus' AKA 'USA' AKA 'Rayzluver69' (okay okay, this last one may not be real...), he stated his ex was a big breasted gal. Well, fellas, I've found her...

I'm going to be banned for life from Ray's and I couldn't be more happy about it

Since Ray has decided this morning that he wants to be the Lust Police, I broke the strike for the first time since it started and slipped a little something in my avatar with my nice message to Ray.
Who wants to take bets on how many fundy heads explode when someone finally realizes that isn't a banana??
Ray was causing lust in my heart
I think I just threw up in my mouth when I typed that title. But, yeah, facial hair turns me on so I had to crop parts of you out, Ray.
Just to be sure there would be no lust at all I took out all of the hair. I feel so clean and pure now.

EDIT: The neck wrinkles were making Maragon wet and I realized I was becoming highly aroused due to his top button of his shirt not being completely fastened and thus exposing his Adam's apple.
We should all be safe from lust now....
